Suffolk Suns Trounce Yesterday’s Knights 10-3




Suffolk Suns easily dispatched Yesterday’s Knights on Tuesday at 5100 Long Island Expy, Dix Hills, NY 11746, 10-3.


Suffolk Suns got on the board in the top of the second inning after Derek Bell doubled to left field, and Gary DiSarcina hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run.


Suffolk Suns added one run in the third. Eric Karros singled to center field, making the score 3-0.


Suffolk Suns added to their lead with four runs in the top of the fourth inning thanks to home runs by Barry Bonds and Gary Gaetti.


Suffolk Suns added three more runs in the top of the eighth inning on three hits. DiSarcina doubled, scoring one run, and Ray Durham homered to left field, scoring two runs.


John Olerud homered to right field, scoring three runs in the bottom of the eighth for the Yesterday’s Knights.


Kerry Wood began the game for Suffolk Suns. The starting pitcher surrendered three hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out eight and walking four. Kenny Rogers stepped on the mound first for Yesterday’s Knights. The starting pitcher gave up 12 hits and 10 runs over eight innings, striking out five and walking four. John Rocker tossed two innings of no-run ball for Suffolk Suns in relief. The hurler gave up zero hits, striking out two and walking one.


Suffolk Suns accumulated 12 hits in the game. DiSarcina, Bell, Chipper Jones, Karros, and Gaetti each collected two hits for Suffolk Suns. DiSarcina, Bonds, Durham, and Gaetti each drove in two runs for Suffolk Suns. Suffolk Suns turned one double play in the game. Suffolk Suns didn't commit a single error in the field. Charles Johnson had the most chances in the field with 13.


Derek Jeter, Jason Kendall, and Olerud each collected one hit for Yesterday’s Knights. Olerud led Yesterday’s Knights with three runs batted in. The infielder went 1-for-3 on the day. Yesterday’s Knights turned one double play in the game. Yesterday’s Knights were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Kendall made the most plays with eight.
