2 Pitchers Work Together As Yesterday’s Knights Shut Out Kelly Leak Allstars 3-0

Yesterday’s Knights defeated Kelly Leak Allstars 3-0 on Tuesday at 5100 Long Island Expy, Dix Hills, NY 11746 as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Mike Williams and John Smoltz each pitched for Yesterday’s Knights in the game. Williams induced a fly out from Darren Lewis to get the last out.


The pitching was strong on both sides. Yesterday’s Knights pitchers struck out 12, while Kelly Leak Allstars sat down eight.


A solo home run to center field by Edgardo Alfonzo put Yesterday’s Knights on the board in the top of the sixth.


Smoltz earned the win for Yesterday’s Knights. The pitcher allowed five hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out 11 and walking one. Greg Maddux took the loss for Kelly Leak Allstars. The starter went seven innings, surrendering three runs on four hits, striking out seven and walking none. Williams collected the save.


John Olerud, Larry Walker, Ellis Burks, Alfonzo, and Jason Giambi each collected one hit for Yesterday’s Knights. Alfonzo and Giambi each drove in one run for Yesterday’s Knights. Yesterday’s Knights were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Jason Kendall had the most chances in the field with 12.


Scott Brosius and Craig Biggio each collected two hits for Kelly Leak Allstars. Kelly Leak Allstars were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Sal Fasano had the most chances in the field with 10.
