Eric Davis hit two home runs and drove in three as Kelly Leak Allstars defeated Scorpions 11-5 on Sunday at 5100 Long Island Expy, Dix Hills, NY 11746. Davis homered in the third and ninth innings.
Kelly Leak Allstars got on the board in the first inning after Tom Goodwin hit a solo home run to right field.
Jose Offerman homered to right field, which helped Scorpions tie the game at one in the bottom of the first.
In the top of the third, Kelly Leak Allstars broke up the tie when Manny Ramirez doubled, scoring one run. Then a home run to center field by Davis followed to extend the lead to 4-1.
Kelly Leak Allstars added to their lead with four runs in the top of the fifth inning thanks to home runs by Omar Vizquel and Ramirez.
Davis hit a solo home run to center field in the top of the ninth for the Kelly Leak Allstars.
Kelvim Escobar started on the bump for Kelly Leak Allstars. The starter surrendered 11 hits and five runs over nine innings, striking out 10 and walking two. Ramon Martinez began the game for Scorpions. The starter gave up 10 hits and eight runs over four innings, striking out five and walking one.
Kelly Leak Allstars collected 14 hits in the game. Ramirez provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Kelly Leak Allstars with five runs batted in. The outfielder went 3-for-4 on the day. Ramirez, Davis, Vizquel, and Goodwin each collected three hits for Kelly Leak Allstars. Kelly Leak Allstars were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Mark McGwire had the most chances in the field with 12.
Scorpions piled up 11 hits in the game. Jim Thome and Gerald Williams each collected three hits for Scorpions. Dave Berg went 1-for-1 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in. Scorpions turned two double plays in the game.
