Big Third Inning Leads Suffolk Suns Past Scorpions

Suffolk Suns defeated Scorpions 7-1 on Tuesday at 5100 Long Island Expy, Dix Hills, NY 11746 thanks in part to four runs in the third inning. Chipper Jones drew a walk, scoring one run, Gary Gaetti singled, scoring one run, and Jim Edmonds doubled, scoring two runs.
David Wells started on the hill for Suffolk Suns. The hurler gave up 13 hits and one run over nine innings, striking out four and walking one. Al Leiter began the game for Scorpions. The starting pitcher allowed nine hits and seven runs over nine innings, striking out nine and walking seven.
Suffolk Suns tallied nine hits in the game. Edmonds and Eric Karros were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in two runs for Suffolk Suns.
