Consistent Offense Leads M and H Lumber Company Past Scorpions in 8-1 Win to Capture Series




M and H Lumber Company kept adding on runs in an 8-1 victory over Scorpions on Monday at 5100 Long Island Expy, Dix Hills, NY 11746.


Scorpions got on the board in the first inning after Rafael Palmeiro hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.


Edgar Martinez doubled to center field, which helped M and H Lumber Company tie the game at one in the top of the third.


A sacrifice fly by Juan Encarnacion gave M and H Lumber Company the lead, 2-1, in the top of the fourth.


Jose Offerman hit a solo home run to right field in the top of the fifth for the M and H Lumber Company.


Vinny Castilla homered to left field, scoring two runs in the top of the ninth for the M and H Lumber Company.


Jamie Moyer stepped on the hill first for M and H Lumber Company. The pitcher allowed seven hits and one run over seven innings, striking out eight and walking one. Donovan Osborne started on the mound for Scorpions. The hurler surrendered nine hits and five runs over five and two-thirds innings, striking out six and walking four. Steve Reed threw two innings of shutout ball for M and H Lumber Company in relief. The reliever surrendered one hit, striking out three and walking none.


M and H Lumber Company piled up 15 hits in the game. Ivan Rodriguez led M and H Lumber Company with three runs batted in from the number nine spot in the lineup. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-4 on the day. Bernie Williams went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead M and H Lumber Company in hits. Offerman, Martinez, and Castilla each collected multiple hits for M and H Lumber Company. M and H Lumber Company turned one double play in the game.


Palmeiro went 2-for-3 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. Jeff Cirillo, Roberto Alomar, and Palmeiro each collected two hits for Scorpions. Scorpions turned three double plays in the game. Scorpions were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Mike Redmond had the most chances in the field with eight.


M and H Lumber Company will travel to Kelly Leak Allstars for their next game next Tuesday.
