Disco Turkeys's Late Push Leads To Victory Over Yesterday’s Knights to Avoid Sweep

Disco Turkeys snatched the lead late in their 7-6 victory over Yesterday’s Knights on Tuesday. The game was tied at six in the bottom of the seventh when Mike Piazza hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.


Disco Turkeys came back to win despite trailing 6-1 in the sixth.


A sacrifice fly by Brian Jordan put Disco Turkeys on the board in the bottom of the third.


Yesterday’s Knights flipped the game on its head in the top of the sixth, scoring six runs on four hits to take the lead, 6-1. The biggest blow in the inning was a grand slam to center field by John Valentin that drove in four.


Disco Turkeys scored five runs on six hits in the bottom of the sixth inning. Piazza homered to left field, scoring two runs, Eddie Perez hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, and Johnny Damon tripled, scoring two runs.


Chuck Finley started the game for Disco Turkeys. The hurler allowed six hits and six runs over six innings, striking out four and walking four. Gil Heredia started the game for Yesterday’s Knights. The right-handed pitcher surrendered six hits and four runs over five and one-third innings, striking out one and walking two. Robb Nen threw two and one-third innings of no-run ball for Disco Turkeys in relief. The hurler allowed two hits, striking out two and walking none.


Disco Turkeys accumulated 10 hits in the game. Piazza drove the middle of the lineup, leading Disco Turkeys with three runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Scott Rolen led Disco Turkeys with three hits in four at bats. Mark Grace and Mickey Morandini each collected multiple hits for Disco Turkeys. Disco Turkeys turned two double plays in the game. Disco Turkeys were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Grace had the most chances in the field with 10.


Valentin drove the middle of the lineup, leading Yesterday’s Knights with four runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-4 on the day. Jason Kendall and John Olerud were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Yesterday’s Knights. Yesterday’s Knights didn't commit a single error in the field. Olerud had the most chances in the field with nine.



Next up for Disco Turkeys is a game against Sledgehammers on Tuesday.
