Disco Turkeys Win In Fashion, Trot It Off Versus Suffolk Suns

It came down to the wire on Tuesday at 5100 Long Island Expy, Dix Hills, NY 11746, as Disco Turkeys grabbed the victory in walk-off fashion, 5-3, over Suffolk Suns. The game was tied at three in the bottom of the ninth when Mike Piazza homered to right field, scoring two runs.

Suffolk Suns were the first to get on the board in the fourth when Chipper Jones hit a solo home run to right field.

Disco Turkeys took the lead in the bottom of the fifth. Mickey Morandini homered to center field, scoring two runs, to give Disco Turkeys the leg up, 2-1.

Jones homered to center field, which helped Suffolk Suns tie the game at two in the top of the sixth.

A single by Derek Jeter gave Disco Turkeys the lead, 3-2, in the bottom of the seventh.

Barry Bonds doubled to right field, which helped Suffolk Suns tie the game at three in the top of the eighth.

Robb Nen earned the win for Disco Turkeys. The hurler allowed two hits and one run (zero earned) over two innings, striking out one and walking none. John Rocker took the loss for Suffolk Suns. The hurler went one inning, allowing two runs on two hits, striking out two and walking none. Ramiro Mendoza opened the game for Disco Turkeys. The starter surrendered three hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out five and walking one. Kerry Wood started on the bump for Suffolk Suns. The pitcher allowed five hits and three runs (two earned) over seven innings, striking out 10 and walking four.

Eddie Perez went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Disco Turkeys in hits. Morandini and Piazza each drove in two runs for Disco Turkeys.

Jones provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Suffolk Suns with two runs batted in. The number three hitter went 2-for-4 on the day. Jones and Darryl Hamilton each collected two hits for Suffolk Suns. Suffolk Suns turned one double play in the game.
