Gary Sheffield Leads Yesterday’s Knights to Series Win Over Kelly Leak Allstars

Gary Sheffield collected three hits in four at bats, as Yesterday’s Knights defeated Kelly Leak Allstars 8-6 on Tuesday at 5100 Long Island Expy, Dix Hills, NY 11746. Sheffield hit a solo home run to center field in the seventh inning, tripled in the fourth inning, and singled in the eighth inning.


Kelly Leak Allstars were the first to get on the board in the second when Andruw Jones doubled, scoring two runs.


Kelly Leak Allstars added one run in the third after Eric Davis doubled to left field.


Yesterday’s Knights scored one run in the bottom of the seventh on a solo home run to center field by Sheffield.


Yesterday’s Knights took the lead, 8-6, in the bottom of the eighth thanks to singles by Sheffield, Larry Walker, and Richard Hidalgo.


Mike Williams earned the win for Yesterday’s Knights. The righty allowed zero hits and zero runs over two innings, striking out two and walking none. Doug Brocail took the loss for Kelly Leak Allstars. The reliever went one inning, surrendering three runs on three hits, striking out none and walking three. Gil Heredia stepped on the hill first for Yesterday’s Knights. The right-handed pitcher gave up nine hits and five runs (three earned) over four and one-third innings, striking out one and walking one. Kelvim Escobar started on the mound for Kelly Leak Allstars. The hurler surrendered 11 hits and five runs over seven innings, striking out three and walking four. Jason Christiansen and Turk Wendell each appeared in relief for Yesterday’s Knights.


Yesterday’s Knights collected 14 hits in the game. Sheffield and Jason Giambi each collected three hits for Yesterday’s Knights. Fernando Vina and Hidalgo each collected multiple hits for Yesterday’s Knights. Edgardo Alfonzo paced Yesterday’s Knights with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, tallying seven walks for the game.


Kelly Leak Allstars tallied 11 hits in the game. Davis led Kelly Leak Allstars with four hits in five at bats. Jones and Davis each drove in two runs for Kelly Leak Allstars. Manny Ramirez and Craig Biggio each collected multiple hits for Kelly Leak Allstars. Kelly Leak Allstars turned two double plays in the game.




Next up for Yesterday’s Knights is a game at Sledgehammers on Tuesday.
