Hill's Slam Secures Scorpions Win Against Suffolk Suns

Scorpions outsted Suffolk Suns 7-4 on Tuesday at 5100 Long Island Expy, Dix Hills, NY 11746.
An error put Suffolk Suns on the board in the top of the first.
Paul O’Neill homered to right field, which helped Scorpions tie the game at one in the bottom of the second.
Suffolk Suns took the lead in the top of the third. Chipper Jones hit a solo home run to right field, to give Suffolk Suns the edge, 2-1.
Scorpions took the lead in the bottom of the seventh. Glenallen Hill hit a grand slam to center field, to give Scorpions the leg up, 5-4.
Scorpions scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth on a home run to center field by Mike Redmond.
Tom Gordon earned the win for Scorpions. The reliever gave up zero hits and zero runs over two innings, striking out two and walking none. Kerry Wood took the loss for Suffolk Suns. The starting pitcher went seven innings, allowing five runs on six hits, striking out 10 and walking five. Ramon Martinez stepped on the hill first for Scorpions. The starter gave up five hits and four runs (three earned) over six innings, striking out six and walking three. Graeme Lloyd collected the save.
Hill provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Scorpions with four runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 1-for-4 on the day. Jose Offerman and O’Neill each collected two hits for Scorpions.
Jones went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Suffolk Suns in hits. Gary DiSarcina, Barry Bonds, Jones, and Jim Edmonds each drove in one run for Suffolk Suns. Suffolk Suns were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Charles Johnson made the most plays with 13.
