Jim Edmonds Drives 5 Runners Home In Suffolk Suns Victory Over M and H Lumber Company



Jim Edmonds drove in five runs on two hits to lead Suffolk Suns past M and H Lumber Company 7-2 on Tuesday at 5100 Long Island Expy, Dix Hills, NY 11746. Edmonds hit a home run to center field in the fifth inning, scoring three runs, and singled in the first inning, scoring two.


Suffolk Suns opened the scoring in the top of the first thanks to two singles. Suffolk Suns first got on the board when Edmonds singled, scoring two runs.


M and H Lumber Company scored one run in the bottom of the third on a solo home run to center field by Rickey Henderson.


Suffolk Suns scored three runs in the top of the fifth on a home run to center field by Edmonds.


David Wells opened the game for Suffolk Suns. The pitcher surrendered nine hits and two runs over eight and one-third innings, striking out five and walking one. Al Leiter started on the bump for M and H Lumber Company. The lefty gave up eight hits and seven runs (six earned) over nine innings, striking out 10 and walking five. Scott Elarton appeared in relief for Suffolk Suns.


Edmonds, Ray Durham, and Chipper Jones each collected two hits for Suffolk Suns. Durham stole two bases. Suffolk Suns were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Charles Johnson made the most plays with five.


M and H Lumber Company accumulated nine hits in the game. Bernie Williams led M and H Lumber Company with three hits in five at bats. Richie Sexson and Henderson each drove in one run for M and H Lumber Company. Nomar Garciaparra collected two hits for M and H Lumber Company in four at bats. M and H Lumber Company turned one double play in the game.
