Juan Gonzalez Puts On Strong Contact Performance As Sledgehammers Take The Win Over Disco Turkeys

Juan Gonzalez collected three hits in four at bats, as Sledgehammers defeated Disco Turkeys 6-0 on Tuesday at 5100 Long Island Expy, Dix Hills, NY 11746. Gonzalez hit a home run to center field in the eighth inning, singled in the first inning, and singled in the third inning.

Kevin Brown threw nine innings innings on the way to a shutout. The starter struck out 5.

A home run to center field by Albert Belle put Sledgehammers on the board in the bottom of the first.

Jeff Bagwell hit a solo home run to right field in the bottom of the third for the Sledgehammers.

Sledgehammers scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth on a home run to center field by Gonzalez.

Ramiro Mendoza stepped on the bump first for Disco Turkeys. The righty gave up nine hits and four runs over six innings, striking out none and walking one.

Sledgehammers accumulated 11 hits in the game. Moises Alou and Barry Larkin each collected multiple hits for Sledgehammers. Sledgehammers turned one double play in the game. Sledgehammers didn't commit a single error in the field. Brad Ausmus had the most chances in the field with five.

Scott Rolen, Mark Grace, Brian McRae, Chuck Knoblauch, Mike Piazza, Eddie Perez, and Marvin Benard each collected one hit for Disco Turkeys. Disco Turkeys were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Grace had the most chances in the field with three.
