Kelly Leak Allstars Hand Sledgehammers First Loss of Season

Kelly Leak Allstars were triumphant over Sledgehammers 5-2 on Tuesday at 5100 Long Island Expy, Dix Hills, NY 11746.


Kelly Leak Allstars got on the board in the top of the second inning after Mark McGwire homered to center field, scoring two runs, and Omar Vizquel singled, scoring one run.


A single by Rey Sanchez extended the Kelly Leak Allstars lead to 5-0 in the top of the third inning.


Darren Dreifort earned the win for Kelly Leak Allstars. The pitcher gave up six hits and one run over six innings, striking out two and walking one. Curt Schilling took the loss for Sledgehammers. The pitcher went nine innings, giving up five runs on 12 hits, striking out 13 and walking two. Mariano Rivera appeared in relief for Kelly Leak Allstars.


Kelly Leak Allstars accumulated 12 hits in the game. Scott Brosius and Andruw Jones were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected three hits for Kelly Leak Allstars while hitting back-to-back. Sanchez and McGwire each drove in two runs for Kelly Leak Allstars. Eric Davis collected two hits for Kelly Leak Allstars in four at bats. Kelly Leak Allstars turned one double play in the game. Kelly Leak Allstars were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Vizquel had the most chances in the field with two.


Sledgehammers collected nine hits in the game. Brad Ausmus, Sledgehammers's number nine hitter, led the team with two hits in two at-bats. Juan Gonzalez and David Segui each drove in one run for Sledgehammers. Sledgehammers turned one double play in the game.
