Kelly Leak Allstars Walk-Off for 8th Straight Sending Scorpions to 4th Straight Loss 2-1




It came down to the wire on Tuesday at 5100 Long Island Expy, Dix Hills, NY 11746, as Kelly Leak Allstars grabbed the victory in walk-off fashion, 2-1, over Scorpions. The game was tied at one in the bottom of the ninth when Andruw Jones doubled, scoring one run.


Both teams were strong on the bump. Kelly Leak Allstars pitchers struck out five, while Scorpions sat down six.


A single by Jones put Kelly Leak Allstars on the board in the bottom of the fifth.


Jim Thome homered to center field, which helped Scorpions tie the game at one in the top of the eighth.


Kelvim Escobar stepped on the bump first for Kelly Leak Allstars. The starter allowed four hits and one run over eight innings, striking out five and walking three. Juan Acevedo stepped on the hill first for Scorpions. The pitcher gave up two hits and one run over five innings, striking out four and walking two. Doug Brocail threw one inning of zero-run ball for Kelly Leak Allstars in relief. The hurler gave up zero hits, striking out none and walking one.


Jones led Kelly Leak Allstars with two runs batted in from the number nine spot in the lineup. The center fielder went 2-for-4 on the day. Darren Lewis stole two bases. Kelly Leak Allstars turned two double plays in the game.


Thome led Scorpions with one run batted in. The 3-hole hitter went 1-for-4 on the day. Dave Berg, Thome, Nomar Garciaparra, and Todd Helton each collected one hit for Scorpions.



Kelly Leak Allstars will travel to Suffolk Suns for their next game on Tuesday.
