Kelly Leaks All-Stars Roster Shuffle Continues with Another Transaction

In an unexpected second roster shake-up in just 24 hours, the Kelly Leaks All-Stars of the Strat Pack League are making waves after their first series loss of the season. Determined to strengthen their roster, the All-Stars have waived pitcher Steve Parris, deciding he wasn't a fit for the team. Despite Parris’s solid 1998 season with the Cincinnati Reds—posting a 6-5 record with a 3.73 ERA over 99 innings—he hadn't seen action in the All-Stars' first nine games and, by all appearances, remained on the fringe of Coach Steve Albeck's plans.

Parris’s departure opens up a roster spot that the All-Stars quickly filled by adding outfielder Jeffrey Hammonds. Hammonds, known for his speed and versatility, brings a strong 1998 performance across both the Baltimore Orioles and Cincinnati Reds. In that season, Hammonds batted .280 with 16 doubles, 2 triples, and 6 home runs in 306 plate appearances, a balanced mix of power and consistency. His .376 OBP and .428 SLG in 1998 make him a solid addition to a lineup that might need a boost after their recent series defeat.

With Eric Davis currently on the IL, Hammonds will compete for playing time alongside outfielders Andruw Jones, Manny Ramirez, Darren Lewis, and Mike Cameron. However, once Davis returns, someone will have to go,Hammonds will need to make an immediate impact if he hopes to secure a permanent spot on the team. His flexibility and reliable bat could be key assets in the All-Stars' lineup moving forward, especially as they aim to bounce back from their recent loss. This swift roster adjustment underscores the All-Stars' focus on remaining competitive in a rapidly evolving league.
