Vinny Castilla’s Clutch Hitting Propels M and H Lumber Company To Victory Over Suffolk Suns

Vinny Castilla drove in four runs on two hits to lead M and H Lumber Company past Suffolk Suns 7-4 on Tuesday at 5100 Long Island Expy, Dix Hills, NY 11746. Castilla hit a home run to center field in the second inning, scoring three runs, and doubled in the first inning, scoring one.


M and H Lumber Company got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Castilla doubled to center field, and Rafael Palmeiro singled to right field, each scoring one run.


M and H Lumber Company added four more runs in the bottom of the second inning on three hits. Bernie Williams singled, scoring one run, and Castilla homered to center field, scoring three runs.


David Justice hit a solo home run to center field in the top of the ninth for the Suffolk Suns.


Jamie Moyer stepped on the mound first for M and H Lumber Company. The left-handed pitcher allowed six hits and three runs over seven and two-thirds innings, striking out six and walking three. Andy Ashby stepped on the hill first for Suffolk Suns. The starter surrendered six hits and six runs (two earned) over one and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking none. Steve Reed appeared in relief for M and H Lumber Company.


M and H Lumber Company piled up 11 hits in the game. Williams set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading M and H Lumber Company with three hits in four at bats. Ivan Rodriguez and Palmeiro each collected multiple hits for M and H Lumber Company. M and H Lumber Company turned one double play in the game.


Jim Edmonds provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Suffolk Suns with two runs batted in. The center fielder went 1-for-3 on the day. Chipper Jones led Suffolk Suns with three hits in four at bats. Suffolk Suns turned two double plays in the game.
