Ken Griffey Jr Powers Sledgehammers Past Scorpions

Ken Griffey Jr hit two home runs and drove in two as Sledgehammers defeated Scorpions 7-3 on Tuesday at 5100 Long Island Expy, Dix Hills, NY 11746. Griffey Jr homered in the second and fifth innings.
Scorpions were the first to get on the board in the first when Edgar Martinez singled, scoring one run.
Sledgehammers made the score 3-1 in the bottom of the second after Griffey Jr hit a solo home run to center field, and Albert Belle singled, scoring two runs.
Sledgehammers scored one run in the bottom of the fifth on a solo home run to center field by Griffey Jr.
Belle hit a solo home run to center field in the bottom of the eighth for the Sledgehammers.
Curt Schilling led things off on the hill for Sledgehammers. The pitcher allowed eight hits and three runs over eight innings, striking out eight and walking four. Randy Johnson began the game for Scorpions. The southpaw allowed 13 hits and seven runs over eight innings, striking out 11 and walking five. John Wetteland pitched one inning of scoreless ball for Sledgehammers in relief. The righty surrendered one hit, striking out two and walking one.
Sledgehammers collected 13 hits in the game. Belle led Sledgehammers with three runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 3-for-5 on the day. Juan Gonzalez, Rey Ordonez, and Griffey Jr each collected multiple hits for Sledgehammers. Sledgehammers turned three double plays in the game. Sledgehammers didn't commit a single error in the field. Jeff Bagwell had the most chances in the field with eight.
Scorpions amassed nine hits in the game. Martinez led Scorpions with two runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 3-for-5 on the day. Jose Offerman and Otis Nixon each collected multiple hits for Scorpions. Scorpions were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Jorge Posada made the most plays with seven.
