M and H Lumber Company bested Sledgehammers 4-3 on Tuesday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at three in the top of the twelfth when Rafael Palmeiro hit a solo home run to center field.
M and H Lumber Company were the first to get on the board in the first when an error scored one run.
Ken Griffey Jr doubled to center field, which helped Sledgehammers tie the game at one in the bottom of the fourth.
A triple by Juan Encarnacion gave M and H Lumber Company the lead, 2-1, in the top of the sixth.
Griffey Jr homered to center field, which helped Sledgehammers tie the game at two in the bottom of the sixth.
M and H Lumber Company took the lead in the top of the eighth. Ivan Rodriguez singled, scoring one run, to give M and H Lumber Company the leg up, 3-2.
Bret Boone singled to right field, which helped Sledgehammers tie the game at three in the bottom of the ninth.
Trevor Hoffman earned the win for M and H Lumber Company. The right-handed pitcher allowed four hits and one run over four innings, striking out three and walking three. John Franco took the loss for Sledgehammers. The lefty went two innings, giving up one run on one hit, striking out one and walking one. Orlando Hernandez stepped on the bump first for M and H Lumber Company. The pitcher allowed four hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out six and walking four. Mike Mussina began the game for Sledgehammers. The pitcher gave up nine hits and three runs (two earned) over seven and one-third innings, striking out five and walking one. Dan Plesac and Steve Reed each appeared in relief for M and H Lumber Company.
M and H Lumber Company piled up 14 hits in the game. Encarnacion, Richie Sexson, Bernie Williams, Palmeiro, and Edgar Renteria each collected two hits for M and H Lumber Company. Encarnacion, Rodriguez, and Palmeiro each drove in one run for M and H Lumber Company. M and H Lumber Company were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Rodriguez made the most plays with nine.
