M and H Lumber Company Secure Win Against Suffolk Suns in Extra Innings





M and H Lumber Company were victorious against Suffolk Suns 6-5 on Tuesday at 5100 Long Island Expy, Dix Hills, NY 11746.


M and H Lumber Company opened the scoring in the fifth after Rafael Palmeiro hit a solo home run to center field.


M and H Lumber Company scored one run in the top of the sixth on a solo home run to center field by Bernie Williams.


Suffolk Suns took the lead in the bottom of the seventh. Eric Karros hit a grand slam to center field, to give Suffolk Suns the advantage, 4-3.


Benito Santiago homered to center field, which helped M and H Lumber Company tie the game at four in the top of the eighth.


In the top of the tenth, M and H Lumber Company broke up the tie when Vinny Castilla singled, scoring one run. Then an error followed to extend the lead to 6-4.


Roger Clemens stepped on the hill first for M and H Lumber Company. The right-handed pitcher gave up two hits and four runs over seven innings, striking out eight and walking five. David Wells stepped on the mound first for Suffolk Suns. The pitcher surrendered six hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out six and walking one. Dan Plesac pitched one and one-third innings of zero-run ball for M and H Lumber Company in relief. The pitcher allowed zero hits, striking out none and walking none.


M and H Lumber Company amassed 10 hits in the game. Williams, Palmeiro, and Roberto Alomar each collected two hits for M and H Lumber Company. Richie Sexson, Castilla, Williams, Santiago, Palmeiro, and Alomar each drove in one run for M and H Lumber Company. M and H Lumber Company didn't commit a single error in the field. Ivan Rodriguez had the most chances in the field with nine.


Karros, the number seven hitter for Suffolk Suns, led the way with four runs batted in. The first baseman went 2-for-3 on the day.
