M and H Lumber Company Takes The Lead Late And Defeats Yesterday’s Knights




M and H Lumber Company beat Yesterday’s Knights 3-2 on Tuesday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at two in the top of the ninth when Richie Sexson hit a solo home run to right field.


Both teams were strong on the bump. M and H Lumber Company pitchers struck out five, while Yesterday’s Knights sat down nine.


M and H Lumber Company got on the board in the third inning after Enrique Wilson singled, scoring one run.


Fernando Vina doubled to center field, which helped Yesterday’s Knights tie the game at one in the bottom of the fifth.


Yesterday’s Knights took the lead in the bottom of the eighth. Alex Rodriguez hit a solo home run to left field, to give Yesterday’s Knights the leg up, 2-1.


M and H Lumber Company took the lead, 3-2, in the top of the ninth thanks to home runs by Vinny Castilla, and Sexson.


Jamie Moyer opened the game for M and H Lumber Company. The left-handed pitcher gave up four hits and one run (zero earned) over seven innings, striking out two and walking two. Matt Morris opened the game for Yesterday’s Knights. The starter surrendered two hits and one run over seven innings, striking out six and walking one. Trevor Hoffman tossed one inning of zero-run ball for M and H Lumber Company in relief. The reliever surrendered zero hits, striking out one and walking none.


Sexson, Wilson, Castilla, Ivan Rodriguez, and Tim Salmon each collected one hit for M and H Lumber Company. Sexson, Wilson, and Castilla each drove in one run for M and H Lumber Company.


Larry Walker, Vina, Jason Giambi, John Olerud, and Rodriguez each collected one hit for Yesterday’s Knights. Vina and Rodriguez each drove in one run for Yesterday’s Knights. Yesterday’s Knights turned one double play in the game.
