Manny Ramirez's Strong Eye Leads Kelly Leak Allstars Past Sledgehammers




Manny Ramirez showed a strong eye at the plate on Tuesday, as Ramirez walked three times while leading Kelly Leak Allstars to a 10-4 victory over Sledgehammers.


A sacrifice fly by Eric Davis put Kelly Leak Allstars on the board in the top of the first.


Sledgehammers took the lead in the bottom of the first. Juan Gonzalez homered to center field, scoring two runs, to give Sledgehammers the advantage, 2-1.


A home run to center field by Ramirez gave Kelly Leak Allstars the lead, 4-2, in the top of the third.


Mark McGwire homered to center field, scoring two runs in the top of the sixth for the Kelly Leak Allstars.


Kelly Leak Allstars scored three runs in the top of the seventh on a home run to center field by Davis.


Kelvim Escobar earned the win for Kelly Leak Allstars. The hurler gave up five hits and four runs over eight and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking six. Mike Mussina took the loss for Sledgehammers. The hurler went eight innings, allowing 10 runs on eight hits, striking out six and walking eight. Doug Brocail appeared in relief for Kelly Leak Allstars.


Davis drove the middle of the lineup, leading Kelly Leak Allstars with four runs batted in. Davis went 1-for-4 on the day. Tom Goodwin led Kelly Leak Allstars with two hits in four at bats. Kelly Leak Allstars had a strong eye at the plate, tallying eight walks for the game. Ramirez and McGwire led the team with three free passes each. Kelly Leak Allstars turned one double play in the game. Kelly Leak Allstars didn't commit a single error in the field. Sal Fasano had the most chances in the field with three.


Gonzalez provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Sledgehammers with two runs batted in. The right fielder went 2-for-4 on the day. Moises Alou led Sledgehammers with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating six walks for the game. Sledgehammers turned two double plays in the game. Sledgehammers were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Brad Ausmus had the most chances in the field with eight.
