Massapequa Mafia give Yesterday’s Knights 4th 1 Run Loss In a Row with 1-0 Shutout Win




Massapequa Mafia defeated Yesterday’s Knights 1-0 on Tuesday at 5100 Long Island Expy, Dix Hills, NY 11746 as three pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Kerry Litenberg, Tom Glavine, and Mike Jackson each pitched for Massapequa Mafia in the game. Litenberg induced a fly out from Jason Giambi to get the last out.


Both teams were strong on the mound. Massapequa Mafia pitchers struck out five, while Yesterday’s Knights sat down eight.


A solo home run to right field by Mo Vaughn put Massapequa Mafia on the board in the top of the sixth.


Glavine started the game for Massapequa Mafia. The pitcher gave up five hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out four and walking one. Kenny Rogers opened the game for Yesterday’s Knights. The hurler allowed three hits and one run over seven innings, striking out six and walking five. Jackson pitched one and two-thirds innings of shutout ball for Massapequa Mafia in relief. The pitcher allowed zero hits, striking out one and walking one.


Vaughn led Massapequa Mafia with one run batted in. The first baseman went 1-for-4 on the day. Sammy Sosa led Massapequa Mafia with two hits in four at bats. Massapequa Mafia turned three double plays in the game. Massapequa Mafia didn't commit a single error in the field. Vaughn had the most chances in the field with 14.


Richard Hidalgo, Kevin Sefcik, Ellis Burks, Jason Kendall, and John Olerud each collected one hit for Yesterday’s Knights. Yesterday’s Knights turned one double play in the game. Yesterday’s Knights were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Kendall made the most plays with eight.
