Moises Alou A Difficult Out As Sledgehammers Win 4th in a Row in 7-2 in Win over Struggling Knights

Moises Alou collected three hits in four at bats, as Sledgehammers defeated Yesterday’s Knights 7-2 on Tuesday at 5100 Long Island Expy, Dix Hills, NY 11746. Alou hit a solo home run to center field in the fourth inning, doubled in the ninth inning, and singled in the eighth inning.


Sledgehammers got on the board in the second inning after Ken Caminiti singled, scoring one run.


Alou hit a solo home run to center field in the top of the fourth for the Sledgehammers.


Richard Hidalgo homered to left field, which helped Yesterday’s Knights tie the game at two in the bottom of the seventh.


Sledgehammers took the lead in the top of the eighth. Alou singled, scoring one run, to give Sledgehammers the upper hand, 3-2.


Kevin Brown started the game for Sledgehammers. The right-handed pitcher gave up five hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out three and walking two. John Smoltz stepped on the bump first for Yesterday’s Knights. The starter gave up six hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out seven and walking four. Troy Percival and John Wetteland each threw shutout innings for Sledgehammers in relief.


Sledgehammers tallied 11 hits in the game. Barry Larkin and Albert Belle each collected multiple hits for Sledgehammers. Bobby Abreu led Sledgehammers with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, amassing eight walks for the game. Sledgehammers turned two double plays in the game.


Hidalgo led Yesterday’s Knights with two runs batted in from the number seven spot in the lineup. The outfielder went 3-for-3 on the day. Fernando Vina collected two hits for Yesterday’s Knights in four at bats. Yesterday’s Knights turned two double plays in the game.
