Pitching Impressive As Disco Turkeys Beat Suffolk Suns to Take Series




Both teams were strong on the mound on Tuesday, but Disco Turkeys defeated Suffolk Suns 3-2. Chuck Finley started the game for Disco Turkeys and recorded 24 outs.


Disco Turkeys didn't take the lead until later in the game. Disco Turkeys were down 2-1 in the bottom of the eighth inning when Fernando Tatis homered to right field, scoring two runs.


Disco Turkeys were the first to get on the board in the first when Mike Piazza singled, scoring one run.


In the top of the fourth inning, Suffolk Suns went back into the lead after Charles Johnson singled to right field, and Gary DiSarcina was struck by a pitch, each scoring one run.


Finley earned the win for Disco Turkeys. The starting pitcher surrendered five hits and two runs over eight innings, striking out two and walking four. Kerry Wood took the loss for Suffolk Suns. The starter went eight innings, giving up three runs (two earned) on five hits, striking out none and walking five. Robb Nen collected the save.


Tatis went 1-for-4 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in. Piazza went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Disco Turkeys in hits. Disco Turkeys turned one double play in the game. Disco Turkeys were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Eddie Perez made the most plays with three.


Johnson and DiSarcina were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in one run for Suffolk Suns.




Disco Turkeys welcome Yesterdays Knights on Tuesday for their next game.
