Pitching Impressive As M and H Lumber Company Beat Scorpions 2-1




Both teams were strong on the hill on Monday, but M and H Lumber Company defeated Scorpions 2-1. Orlando Hernandez started the game for M and H Lumber Company and recorded 21 outs.


M and H Lumber Company didn't take the lead until later in the game. The game was tied at one in the bottom of the seventh when Edgar Martinez doubled, scoring one run.


A single by Todd Helton put M and H Lumber Company on the board in the bottom of the fifth.


Greg Vaughn homered to left field, which helped Scorpions tie the game at one in the top of the seventh.


Hernandez began the game for M and H Lumber Company. The right-handed pitcher gave up four hits and one run over seven innings, striking out five and walking one. Roger Clemens started on the mound for Scorpions. The starting pitcher gave up eight hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out seven and walking one. Trevor Hoffman tossed one and two-thirds innings of zero-run ball for M and H Lumber Company in relief. The pitcher surrendered zero hits, striking out three and walking one.


M and H Lumber Company collected nine hits in the game. Jose Offerman led M and H Lumber Company with three hits in four at bats from the leadoff position. Helton and Martinez were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in one run for M and H Lumber Company. Juan Encarnacion collected two hits for M and H Lumber Company in four at bats. M and H Lumber Company turned one double play in the game. M and H Lumber Company were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Helton had the most chances in the field with 10.


Jeff Cirillo, Vaughn, Rafael Palmeiro, and Gerald Williams each collected one hit for Scorpions. Vaughn led Scorpions with one run batted in. The outfielder went 1-for-4 on the day.
