Powerful Pitching Performance From Chuck Finley Carries Disco Turkeys Past Massapequa Mafia to Avoid Sweep

Chuck Finley was dominant on the hill, as the lefty rang up 12 strikeouts in Disco Turkeys's 7-5 victory over Massapequa Mafia on Tuesday at 5100 Long Island Expy, Dix Hills, NY 11746. Finley allowed eight hits and three runs over seven innings while walking three.
Disco Turkeys got on the board in the top of the first inning after Derek Jeter homered to center field, and Brian McRae singled to left field, each scoring one run.
Massapequa Mafia tied the game in the bottom of the seventh thanks to a solo home run to center field by Javy Lopez, and a single by Sammy Sosa.
In the top of the eighth, Disco Turkeys broke up the tie when Mike Piazza hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run. Then a double by Eddie Perez followed to extend the lead to 5-3.
Lopez homered to center field, which helped Massapequa Mafia tie the game at five in the bottom of the eighth.
Disco Turkeys jumped back into the lead in the top of the ninth inning after Chad Curtis homered to center field, and Mark Grace hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run.
Tom Glavine stepped on the bump first for Massapequa Mafia. The hurler surrendered nine hits and two runs over five innings, striking out four and walking four. Robb Nen appeared in relief for Disco Turkeys.
Disco Turkeys piled up 17 hits in the game. Curtis and Rusty Greer each collected three hits for Disco Turkeys. Grace, McRae, Scott Rolen, Curtis, Piazza, Perez, and Jeter each drove in one run for Disco Turkeys. Disco Turkeys had patience at the plate, tallying six walks for the game. Rolen and Greer led the team with two free passes each. Disco Turkeys were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Perez made the most plays with 13.
Massapequa Mafia amassed 12 hits in the game. Lopez led Massapequa Mafia with three runs batted in from the number seven spot in the lineup. The catcher went 2-for-5 on the day. Sosa, Lopez, Travis Fryman, and Carl Everett each collected two hits for Massapequa Mafia. Massapequa Mafia turned one double play in the game.
