Powerful Pitching Performance From Kevin Brown Carries Sledgehammers Past Disco Turkeys 6-1



Kevin Brown was dominant on the hill, as the starter rang up 12 strikeouts in Sledgehammers's 6-1 victory over Disco Turkeys on Tuesday at 5100 Long Island Expy, Dix Hills, NY 11746. Brown gave up four hits and one run over nine innings while walking one.


Sledgehammers were the first to get on the board in the second when Juan Gonzalez hit a solo home run to right field.


Brian Jordan homered to right field, which helped Disco Turkeys tie the game at one in the bottom of the third.


Sledgehammers took the lead, 5-1, in the top of the fourth thanks to doubles by Albert Belle, Ken Caminiti, and Ken Griffey Jr.


Robin Ventura hit a solo home run to right field in the top of the ninth for the Sledgehammers.


Ramiro Mendoza stepped on the hill first for Disco Turkeys. The starting pitcher gave up seven hits and five runs over six innings, striking out three and walking one.


Sledgehammers amassed 10 hits in the game. Griffey Jr led Sledgehammers with two runs batted in from the number seven spot in the lineup. The left-handed hitter went 1-for-4 on the day. Moises Alou led Sledgehammers with three hits in four at bats. Sledgehammers turned one double play in the game. Sledgehammers were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Brad Ausmus made the most plays with 12.


Jordan led Disco Turkeys with one run batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Disco Turkeys's Eddie Perez, the number nine hitter, led Disco Turkeys with two hits in three at bats. Disco Turkeys turned two double plays in the game. Disco Turkeys were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Perez made the most plays with six.
