Scorpions Beat M and H Lumber Company On Powerful Revenge Performance From Former Lumber Co. Player Edgar Martinez




Edgar Martinez hit two home runs and drove in two as Scorpions defeated M and H Lumber Company 8-7 on Tuesday at 5100 Long Island Expy, Dix Hills, NY 11746. Martinez homered in the first and fourth innings.


Despite falling down by five runs in the fourth inning, M and H Lumber Company tried to fight back. M and H Lumber Company closed the gap by scoring on a solo home run, a triple, a single, a tag up, and a double.


Scorpions got on the board in the first inning after Martinez hit a solo home run to center field.


A single by Dave Berg extended the Scorpions lead to 3-0 in the top of the third inning.


Scorpions added to their lead with four runs in the top of the fourth inning thanks to home runs by Doug Glanville and Martinez.


Orlando Hernandez hit a solo home run to right field in the bottom of the fourth for the M and H Lumber Company.


Benito Santiago doubled to center field, which helped M and H Lumber Company tie the game at seven in the bottom of the eighth.


A double by Berg gave Scorpions the lead, 8-7, in the top of the ninth.


Graeme Lloyd earned the win for Scorpions. The reliever gave up two hits and one run over one inning, striking out none and walking none. Steve Reed took the loss for M and H Lumber Company. The pitcher went one inning, giving up one run on one hit, striking out one and walking one. Ramon Martinez opened the game for Scorpions. The right-handed pitcher gave up four hits and three runs (one earned) over five innings, striking out two and walking one. Hernandez led things off on the bump for M and H Lumber Company. The pitcher allowed eight hits and seven runs over six innings, striking out seven and walking three. Tom Gordon collected the save. Chad Bradford appeared in relief for Scorpions.


Scorpions accumulated 11 hits in the game. Berg and Glanville each drove in three runs for Scorpions. Scorpions turned one double play in the game.


M and H Lumber Company piled up 12 hits in the game. Hernandez, Vinny Castilla, and Rafael Palmeiro each collected two hits for M and H Lumber Company. Hernandez and Castilla each drove in two runs for M and H Lumber Company. M and H Lumber Company were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Ivan Rodriguez had the most chances in the field with 11.
