Scorpions Victorious Over Disco Turkeys




Scorpions were victorious against Disco Turkeys 6-1 on Saturday at 5100 Long Island Expy, Dix Hills, NY 11746.


Scorpions got on the board in the first inning after Todd Helton homered to center field, scoring two runs.


Two more Scorpions runs crossed the plate in the second inning to extend the lead to 4-0. Nomar Garciaparra hit a solo home run to center field, and Jose Offerman singled, scoring one run.


Disco Turkeys scored one run in the top of the fourth on a solo home run to left field by Mark Grace.


Randy Johnson earned the win for Scorpions. The hurler allowed six hits and one run over seven and two-thirds innings, striking out nine and walking three. Ramiro Mendoza took the loss for Disco Turkeys. The starting pitcher went six innings, surrendering five runs on eight hits, striking out two and walking three. Tom Gordon collected the save.


Scorpions accumulated 11 hits in the game. Number nine hitter, Doug Glanville, showed the depth of Scorpions's lineup, by leading them with three hits in four at bats. Helton and Offerman each drove in two runs for Scorpions. Scorpions turned one double play in the game.


Grace led Disco Turkeys with one run batted in. The first baseman went 2-for-4 on the day. Disco Turkeys were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Grace had the most chances in the field with eight.
