Scott Brosius drove in four runs on two hits to lead Kelly Leak Allstars past Disco Turkeys 5-4 on Tuesday at 5100 Long Island Expy, Dix Hills, NY 11746. Brosius hit a home run to right field in the third inning, scoring three runs, and doubled in the seventh inning, scoring one.
Disco Turkeys opened the scoring in the first after Mike Piazza singled, scoring one run.
Kelly Leak Allstars took the lead in the bottom of the third. Brosius homered to right field, scoring three runs, to give Kelly Leak Allstars the upper hand, 3-1.
Scott Rolen hit a solo home run to left field in the top of the fourth for the Disco Turkeys.
Johnny Damon doubled to left field, which helped Disco Turkeys tie the game at three in the top of the fifth.
In the bottom of the seventh, Kelly Leak Allstars broke up the tie when Brosius doubled, scoring one run. Then a ground out by Mark McGwire followed to extend the lead to 5-3.
Alex Rodriguez hit a solo home run to center field in the top of the ninth for the Disco Turkeys.
Greg Maddux led things off on the mound for Kelly Leak Allstars. The starter gave up six hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out one and walking none. Ramiro Mendoza started on the mound for Disco Turkeys. The hurler allowed four hits and three runs over six innings, striking out three and walking two. Vic Darensbourg tossed one inning of scoreless ball for Kelly Leak Allstars in relief. The pitcher surrendered zero hits, striking out none and walking none.
Kelly Leak Allstars had patience at the plate, amassing six walks for the game. Omar Vizquel and Mike Stanley led the team with two free passes each. Vizquel stole three bases. Kelly Leak Allstars turned one double play in the game.
Rodriguez led Disco Turkeys with two hits in four at bats. Rolen, Damon, Rodriguez, and Piazza each drove in one run for Disco Turkeys.
