Sledgehammers Claim 5th Straight with 5-1 Victory Over Yesterday’s Knights

Sledgehammers defeated Yesterday’s Knights 5-1 on Tuesday at 5100 Long Island Expy, Dix Hills, NY 11746.


A solo home run to left field by Richard Hidalgo put Yesterday’s Knights on the board in the top of the second.


Sledgehammers flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the eighth, scoring five runs on four hits to take the lead, 5-1. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Moises Alou that drove in two.


Curt Schilling started on the bump for Sledgehammers. The starting pitcher surrendered 10 hits and one run over nine innings, striking out four and walking seven. Matt Morris stepped on the bump first for Yesterday’s Knights. The pitcher gave up three hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out seven and walking two.


Brad Ausmus and Barry Larkin each collected two hits for Sledgehammers. Bobby Abreu and Alou each drove in two runs for Sledgehammers. Sledgehammers turned one double play in the game. Sledgehammers were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Jeff Bagwell made the most plays with 14.


Yesterday’s Knights piled up 10 hits in the game. Larry Walker, Edgardo Alfonzo, and Jason Kendall each collected two hits for Yesterday’s Knights. Hidalgo led Yesterday’s Knights with one run batted in. The outfielder went 1-for-2 on the day. Hidalgo led Yesterday’s Knights with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying seven walks for the game.
