Sledgehammers Continue Winning Ways Over Turkeys taking 4th Game out of 5 in 8-6 Come From Behind Win

Sledgehammers snatched the lead late in their 8-6 victory over Disco Turkeys on Tuesday. Sledgehammers were down 6-5 in the bottom of the seventh inning when Juan Gonzalez homered to right field, scoring three runs.

Sledgehammers opened the scoring in the bottom of the first thanks to two doubles. Sledgehammers first got on the board when Albert Belle doubled, scoring one run.

Disco Turkeys took the lead in the top of the fifth. Brian McRae homered to right field, scoring three runs, to give Disco Turkeys the edge, 3-2.

A home run to right field by Ken Griffey Jr gave Sledgehammers the lead, 4-3, in the bottom of the fifth.

In the top of the sixth inning, Disco Turkeys went back into the lead after Brian Jordan doubled to right field, Mickey Morandini tripled to left field, and Eddie Perez doubled to right field, each scoring one run.

Curt Schilling opened the game for Sledgehammers. The hurler gave up nine hits and six runs (three earned) over eight innings, striking out six and walking three. Terry Mulholland stepped on the hill first for Disco Turkeys. The starting pitcher gave up nine hits and five runs (three earned) over six innings, striking out four and walking two. John Wetteland threw one inning of shutout ball for Sledgehammers in relief. The right-handed pitcher allowed two hits, striking out one and walking none.

Sledgehammers piled up 11 hits in the game. Griffey Jr and Barry Larkin each collected two hits for Sledgehammers. Gonzalez went 1-for-4 at the plate and led the team with three runs batted in. Sledgehammers turned two double plays in the game.

Disco Turkeys amassed 11 hits in the game. Perez, Disco Turkeys's number nine hitter, led the team with three hits in four at-bats. McRae led Disco Turkeys with three runs batted in. The switch hitter went 1-for-4 on the day. Rusty Greer collected two hits for Disco Turkeys in five at bats.
