Streak Buster ! Wood Stops Suns Skid at 7, and All-Stars Win Streak at 10 as they Avoid Sweep 4-2

Kerry Wood struck out 14 batters as the pitcher led Suffolk Suns past Kelly Leak Allstars 4-2 on Tuesday at 5100 Long Island Expy, Dix Hills, NY 11746. Wood surrendered five hits and two runs over eight innings while walking four.

Suffolk Suns opened the scoring in the bottom of the first thanks to two doubles. Suffolk Suns first got on the board when Carlos Delgado doubled, scoring one run.

Barry Bonds hit a solo home run to right field in the bottom of the second for the Suffolk Suns.

Kelly Leak Allstars scored one run in the top of the eighth on a solo home run to center field by Craig Biggio.

Kelvim Escobar started on the hill for Kelly Leak Allstars. The starter allowed six hits and four runs over seven innings, striking out nine and walking three. Ugueth Urbina tossed one inning of zero-run ball for Suffolk Suns in relief. The reliever gave up one hit, striking out two and walking none.

David Justice drove the middle of the lineup, leading Suffolk Suns with two runs batted in. Justice went 1-for-4 on the day. Bonds went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Suffolk Suns in hits. Wood threw an immaculate inning in the first, striking out the side on nine pitches. Suffolk Suns turned one double play in the game. Suffolk Suns were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Charles Johnson made the most plays with 16.

Biggio went 2-for-5 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in. Biggio and Jim Leyritz each collected two hits for Kelly Leak Allstars. Kelly Leak Allstars didn't commit a single error in the field. Sal Fasano had the most chances in the field with nine.
