Suffolk Suns's Late Push Leads To Victory Over Sledgehammers

Suffolk Suns snatched the lead late in their 5-4 victory over Sledgehammers on Tuesday. Suffolk Suns were down 4-3 in the top of the ninth inning when Jose Canseco homered to left field, scoring two runs.
Suffolk Suns got on the board in the top of the third inning after Barry Bonds doubled, scoring one run, and Chipper Jones singled, scoring two runs.
Sledgehammers captured the lead, 4-3, in the bottom of the fifth when Albert Belle hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, and Ken Griffey Jr singled, scoring two runs.
David Wells earned the win for Suffolk Suns. The starter allowed 10 hits and four runs over eight innings, striking out five and walking three. John Wetteland took the loss for Sledgehammers. The right-handed pitcher went two innings, allowing two runs on three hits, striking out two and walking two. Kevin Brown started on the bump for Sledgehammers. The hurler surrendered six hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out three and walking two. Ugueth Urbina collected the save.
Suffolk Suns piled up nine hits in the game. Bonds led Suffolk Suns with two hits in four at bats. Jones and Canseco each drove in two runs for Suffolk Suns. Suffolk Suns turned one double play in the game. Suffolk Suns were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Charles Johnson had the most chances in the field with seven.
Sledgehammers collected 11 hits in the game. Jeff Bagwell went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead Sledgehammers in hits. Belle and Griffey Jr each drove in two runs for Sledgehammers. Barry Larkin and Moises Alou each collected multiple hits for Sledgehammers. Sledgehammers turned one double play in the game.
