Walk-Off Seals The Deal In Massapequa Mafia 3-2 Victory Over Yesterday’s Knights

It came down to the wire on Tuesday at 5100 Long Island Expy, Dix Hills, NY 11746, as Massapequa Mafia grabbed the victory in walk-off fashion, 3-2, over Yesterday’s Knights. The game was tied at two in the bottom of the ninth when Jeff Kent hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.
Both teams were strong on the bump. Massapequa Mafia pitchers struck out six, while Yesterday’s Knights sat down seven.
A sacrifice fly by Jason Kendall put Yesterday’s Knights on the board in the top of the third.
Massapequa Mafia jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the third inning after Ray Lankford homered to center field, and Jay Bell homered to left field, each scoring one run.
Kevin Sefcik grounded into a double play, which helped Yesterday’s Knights tie the game at two in the top of the seventh.
Andy Pettitte stepped on the bump first for Massapequa Mafia. The hurler surrendered 10 hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out four and walking one. Matt Morris began the game for Yesterday’s Knights. The righty surrendered three hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out six and walking two. Jeff Shaw threw two innings of zero-run ball for Massapequa Mafia in relief. The reliever surrendered one hit, striking out two and walking none.
Bell, Scott Hatteberg, Kent, and Lankford each collected one hit for Massapequa Mafia. Bell, Kent, and Lankford each drove in one run for Massapequa Mafia. Massapequa Mafia turned two double plays in the game. Massapequa Mafia were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Mo Vaughn had the most chances in the field with 14.
Yesterday’s Knights amassed 11 hits in the game. Fernando Vina, Kendall, and John Olerud each collected two hits for Yesterday’s Knights. Kendall went 2-for-4 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. Yesterday’s Knights didn't commit a single error in the field. Olerud had the most chances in the field with 12.
