Massapequa Mafia took Tuesday's game in dramatic fashion, with a 5-4 walk-off victory over Disco Turkeys at 5100 Long Island Expy, Dix Hills, NY 11746. The game was tied at four in the bottom of the tenth when Carl Everett doubled, scoring one run.
Everett collected four hits in five at bats in the win. Everett doubled in the eighth inning, doubled in the tenth inning, doubled in the second inning, and singled in the sixth inning.
Disco Turkeys got on the board in the first inning after Mike Piazza singled, scoring one run.
Disco Turkeys scored two runs in the top of the third on a home run to center field by Eddie Perez.
Disco Turkeys scored one run in the top of the fourth on a solo home run to center field by Marvin Benard.
Massapequa Mafia scored one run in the bottom of the seventh on a solo home run to center field by Javy Lopez.
Everett doubled to center field, which helped Massapequa Mafia tie the game at four in the bottom of the eighth.
Mike Jackson earned the win for Massapequa Mafia. The reliever surrendered zero hits and zero runs over two innings, striking out one and walking none. Robb Nen took the loss for Disco Turkeys. The pitcher went two and one-third innings, surrendering one run (zero earned) on two hits, striking out four and walking one. Pedro Martinez led things off on the mound for Massapequa Mafia. The hurler surrendered six hits and four runs over seven and one-third innings, striking out seven and walking three. Terry Mulholland stepped on the mound first for Disco Turkeys. The left-handed pitcher gave up seven hits and four runs (two earned) over seven innings, striking out five and walking one. Gabe White appeared in relief for Massapequa Mafia.
Massapequa Mafia accumulated nine hits in the game. Dante Bichette collected two hits for Massapequa Mafia in five at bats.
Disco Turkeys's Benard, the number eight hitter, led Disco Turkeys with two hits in four at bats. Perez went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in.
