Yesterday’s Knights Beat Scorpions 7-2 to Stop 4 Game Skid





Yesterday’s Knights defeated Scorpions 7-2 on Tuesday at 5100 Long Island Expy, Dix Hills, NY 11746.


Yesterday’s Knights got on the board in the bottom of the third inning after Larry Walker singled to right field, Ellis Burks doubled to center field, and Jason Kendall was struck by a pitch, each scoring one run.


Rafael Palmeiro hit a solo home run to right field in the top of the fifth for the Scorpions.


Jim Thome hit a solo home run to right field in the top of the seventh for the Scorpions.


Yesterday’s Knights scored one run in the bottom of the seventh on a solo home run to left field by Gary Sheffield.


John Smoltz earned the win for Yesterday’s Knights. The starting pitcher surrendered three hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out six and walking two. Roger Clemens took the loss for Scorpions. The starting pitcher went seven innings, allowing seven runs on eight hits, striking out five and walking seven. Turk Wendell pitched two innings of scoreless ball for Yesterday’s Knights in relief. The pitcher allowed zero hits, striking out two and walking none.


Yesterday’s Knights amassed nine hits in the game. Walker drove the middle of the lineup, leading Yesterday’s Knights with two runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 1-for-4 on the day. Sheffield went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Yesterday’s Knights in hits. Yesterday’s Knights had a strong eye at the plate, amassing seven walks for the game. Sheffield and Richard Hidalgo led the team with two walks each. Yesterday’s Knights turned two double plays in the game. Yesterday’s Knights didn't commit a single error in the field. Jason Giambi had the most chances in the field with nine.


Thome, Jeff Cirillo, and Palmeiro each collected one hit for Scorpions. Thome and Palmeiro each drove in one run for Scorpions. Scorpions were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Palmeiro had the most chances in the field with seven.
