Richard Hidalgo drove in four runs on three hits to lead Yesterday’s Knights past Disco Turkeys 8-3 on Tuesday at 5100 Long Island Expy, Dix Hills, NY 11746. Hidalgo doubled in the first inning, scoring three runs, and doubled in the fifth inning, scoring one.
Yesterday’s Knights opened the scoring in the top of the first thanks to two doubles. Yesterday’s Knights first got on the board when Hidalgo doubled, scoring three runs.
John Smoltz earned the win for Yesterday’s Knights. The pitcher allowed seven hits and three runs (two earned) over seven innings, striking out four and walking three. Terry Mulholland took the loss for Disco Turkeys. The pitcher went eight innings, surrendering eight runs (six earned) on seven hits, striking out six and walking five. Turk Wendell tossed two innings of scoreless ball for Yesterday’s Knights in relief. The hurler surrendered one hit, striking out none and walking none.
John Valentin led Yesterday’s Knights with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating six walks for the game. Yesterday’s Knights turned three double plays in the game.
Mark Grace, Alex Rodriguez, and Mike Piazza each collected two hits for Disco Turkeys. Scott Rolen, Rusty Greer, and Piazza each drove in one run for Disco Turkeys. Disco Turkeys turned one double play in the game.
