Yesterday’s Knights took Tuesday's game in dramatic fashion, with a 6-5 walk-off victory over Massapequa Mafia at 5100 Long Island Expy, Dix Hills, NY 11746. The game was tied at five in the bottom of the tenth when Richard Hidalgo singled, scoring one run.
Massapequa Mafia opened the scoring in the fourth after Travis Fryman doubled, scoring one run.
Fryman hit a solo home run to left field in the top of the seventh for the Massapequa Mafia.
Yesterday’s Knights flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the eighth, scoring five runs on two hits to take the lead, 5-2. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Jason Giambi that drove in two.
Massapequa Mafia tied the game up in the top of the ninth thanks to two doubles. Massapequa Mafia tied the game at five on a double by Carl Everett.
Jason Christiansen earned the win for Yesterday’s Knights. The hurler allowed zero hits and zero runs over one inning, striking out one and walking none. Kerry Litenberg took the loss for Massapequa Mafia. The reliever went one and one-third innings, surrendering one run (zero earned) on two hits, striking out one and walking one. Matt Morris stepped on the mound first for Yesterday’s Knights. The righty allowed four hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out four and walking two. Tom Glavine began the game for Massapequa Mafia. The hurler gave up four hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out four and walking one. Mike Williams appeared in relief for Yesterday’s Knights.
Larry Walker and Jason Kendall each collected two hits for Yesterday’s Knights. Kendall and Giambi each drove in two runs for Yesterday’s Knights.
Fryman led Massapequa Mafia with three runs batted in from the number seven spot in the lineup. The third baseman went 3-for-4 on the day.
