Yesterday’s Knights Takes The Lead Late And Defeats Scorpions

Yesterday’s Knights snatched the lead late in their 6-3 victory over Scorpions on Tuesday. The game was tied at three in the top of the eighth when Jason Giambi homered to right field, scoring three runs.


A sacrifice fly by Jose Offerman put Scorpions on the board in the bottom of the third.


Scorpions scored one run in the bottom of the fourth on a solo home run to right field by Todd Helton.


Yesterday’s Knights flipped the game on its head in the top of the eighth, scoring five runs on five hits to take the lead, 6-3. The biggest blow in the inning was a home run to right field by Giambi that drove in three.


Kenny Rogers started the game for Yesterday’s Knights. The pitcher surrendered eight hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out seven and walking two. Ramon Martinez led things off on the mound for Scorpions. The right-handed pitcher gave up five hits and one run over six innings, striking out seven and walking none. Mike Williams tossed one and one-third innings of shutout ball for Yesterday’s Knights in relief. The pitcher gave up one hit, striking out three and walking one.


Yesterday’s Knights collected 10 hits in the game. John Olerud and Jason Kendall were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Yesterday’s Knights. Giambi went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with three runs batted in. Yesterday’s Knights turned two double plays in the game. Yesterday’s Knights didn't commit a single error in the field. Olerud had the most chances in the field with 12.


Scorpions piled up 10 hits in the game. Mike Redmond, Jeff Cirillo, Gerald Williams, and Helton each collected two hits for Scorpions. Cirillo, Offerman, and Helton each drove in one run for Scorpions. Scorpions were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Redmond had the most chances in the field with 10.
