Yesterday’s Knights Triumph Over Scorpions 7-4 for Second Win in a Row.




Yesterday’s Knights bested Scorpions 7-4 on Tuesday at 5100 Long Island Expy, Dix Hills, NY 11746.


Yesterday’s Knights got on the board in the first inning after Gary Sheffield hit a solo home run to left field.


Scorpions captured the lead, 4-3, in the bottom of the sixth when Greg Vaughn singled, scoring one run, and Vladimir Guerrero homered to left field, scoring three runs.


Fernando Vina singled to center field, which helped Yesterday’s Knights tie the game at four in the top of the seventh.


Yesterday’s Knights took the lead in the top of the ninth inning after Derek Jeter homered to center field, Kevin Sefcik doubled to center field, and Sheffield singled to left field, each scoring one run.


Matt Morris earned the win for Yesterday’s Knights. The pitcher gave up two hits and two runs over five and two-thirds innings, striking out six and walking two. Tom Gordon took the loss for Scorpions. The hurler went one inning, giving up three runs on four hits, striking out one and walking none. Randy Johnson stepped on the hill first for Scorpions. The starting pitcher gave up five hits and four runs over seven innings, striking out 11 and walking two. Mike Williams collected the save. Jason Christiansen appeared in relief for Yesterday’s Knights.


Yesterday’s Knights accumulated nine hits in the game. Sheffield drove the middle of the lineup, leading Yesterday’s Knights with three runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-4 on the day. Jeter, Vina, and Sheffield each collected two hits for Yesterday’s Knights. Yesterday’s Knights turned one double play in the game. Yesterday’s Knights were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Jason Kendall had the most chances in the field with 12.


Guerrero provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Scorpions with three runs batted in. The outfielder went 1-for-4 on the day. Jeff Cirillo set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading Scorpions with two hits in four at bats. Johnson threw an immaculate inning in the third, striking out the side on nine pitches. Scorpions were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Jorge Posada had the most chances in the field with 15.
